A short film entirely produced by me for my final year two project for university. A film based on the concept of "art block" and how it can suppress motivation, distinguish people's talent, and stopping them from doing things they love.

Character Design
For the design of the characters I wanted them to contrast a little both with proportions and size. Making the student appear more normal with simplistic clothing, and the Art Stop monster being draconic and supernatural.
Simple designs that are both animation friendly, especially for the limited time I had to produce the film solo, but also distinct designs that would allow them to have a clear sense of personality. The student wearing casual clothing with a tired default expression; and the Art Stop monster having a snake-ish appearance to better reinforce the manipulative and decietful manner.

STORY + ANIMATION
Giving myself the very difficult task of independently creating and developing a one-two minute short film, I had to come up with a story that fitted my idea of the struggles of "art block". The concept of wanting to draw and having the ability to, but having self-doubt and a lack of motivation preventing the artist from following their passion.
With the realisation that I had to fully animate the film solo - key framing, rough animating, etc - I had to minimise some poses in order to manage my time correctly and not overload myself with an impossible task. Fortunately, as I was quick with my animating and development, I ended up adding several additions to the film as well as tweaking certain scenes; to inevitably create a more interesting but also impactful story.
